About Firm Dhundo

Firm Dhundo is an independent directory of chartered accountant firms in India, with client reviews that are moderated before they are published. It is free to use, it is not a marketplace, and no firm can pay to appear or to rank higher.

Why it exists

Finding a good chartered accountant in India has always come down to word of mouth. That works if you happen to know the right person and fails completely if you do not. There has been no neutral place to see which firms operate near you, what they actually do, how long they have practised, and what the people who hired them thought afterwards.

The consequence is that a decision with real financial consequences gets made on a single recommendation, and people stay with an ill-fitting firm for years because they have no basis for comparison. We are trying to give that decision a starting point.

What we cover

We currently list 4,850 firms across Mumbai and Delhi NCR. That is deliberately not every registered firm in those cities. We include firms where we have credible, verifiable contact information, and we leave out entries where we could not establish anything a visitor could act on. A directory padded with unreachable listings is worse than a smaller one that works.

If your firm is missing and you would like it listed, tell us through the contact page.

Where our data comes from

You should know exactly how much weight to put on what you read here, so this is the honest position.

We do not display ratings collected by other platforms. A rating you see here was left here.

How reviews work

Reviews are anonymous to the public but never anonymous to us.

The standards for what gets published are set out in the review guidelines.

Our position

We are a neutral directory, not a broker. We do not solicit work on behalf of any firm, we do not take a commission on any engagement, and we do not pass your details to firms. When you contact a firm through this site, it opens an email in your own mail application addressed to that firm. Nothing is routed through us and no lead is sold.

Contact details require a free account. Everything else about a firm - its location, ICAI registration, how long it has practised, what it does and what clients said - is open to everyone and needs no sign-in. A firm's phone number, email address and website are shown to signed-in visitors only. That is not a paywall and it never becomes one: it exists so these firms' contact details cannot be harvested in bulk by anyone running a script, which is a real problem for a public directory and something the firms themselves have no way to prevent.

That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight. A directory that earns money per introduction has an incentive to push you toward whoever pays most, and its reviews stop meaning anything shortly afterwards.

How the site is funded

Firm Dhundo is free for everyone, both visitors and the firms listed. We intend to fund it through advertising. Where advertising appears it will be clearly labelled and kept visually separate from listings and reviews.

Advertising will never influence which firms are listed, how they are ordered, or which reviews are published. No firm can buy a position in the directory, and no advertiser gets editorial input. If that ever changes, this page will say so before it happens.

What we are not

We are not chartered accountants and we do not give tax, audit, legal or financial advice. Our guides explain how the profession works so you can ask better questions. For advice on your own position, engage a qualified professional.

We also do not verify the competence of any firm listed. Registration with ICAI is a floor, not a recommendation, and a listing here is not an endorsement.

Corrections

We would rather be corrected than be wrong. If a phone number is dead, an address has changed, a service list is inaccurate, a registration number does not belong to that firm, or a firm has stopped practising, tell us through the contact page and we will fix it. Every firm page carries a direct link for exactly this.

Contact and grievances

All the ways to reach us are on the contact page, which also names the Grievance Officer required under India's IT Rules, 2021. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
